Golden times for wealth managers in Dubai
I very much enjoy going to Atlantis The Palm (photos) for drinks and usually head to Atlantis The Royal for dinner. Conveniently, the two ultra-luxury hotels are only about a five-minute taxi ride apart. On Friday evening, 7 August 2026, I found myself thinking once again about how easy it can be for wealth managers in Dubai to strike up conversations with potential clients. While I was waiting for my guest to arrive, I got chatting to several Europeans who either live here or were on holiday. As soon as I mentioned that I am from Switzerland and work in the financial industry, the conversation almost inevitably turned to investing.
Of course, my Louis Vuitton suitcase helps to get things moving a little – and not only in Dubai. It is now exactly 45 years old and definitely ranks among my best investments. If I were a wealth manager, I would therefore probably spend quite a lot of time in luxury hotels like these. Not just because of the drinks or the ambience, but because they bring together people from all over the world with considerable financial means. The networking opportunities are enormous.
There is, however, one prerequisite: you have to like people and enjoy talking to them. Because Dubai is no different from anywhere else: the best contacts are made not at a desk, but in real life. Thomas J. Caduff, CEO, Fundplat LLC
