FIX drives adoption of standardised outage communications

Trader TV, London
FIX Trading Community is pushing for wider adoption of a standardised methodology for communicating exchange and platform outages, as growing trading volumes and increasingly complex market infrastructure heighten the risks of market disruption and delayed information.
Speaking to Trader TV, Jim Kaye, executive director at the non-profit standards body, discusses the FIX framework announced in June, which standardises outage content and taxonomies across communication channels aimed at helping firms receive and process information about venue disruptions more quickly and consistently. Kaye also examines the market’s response to the methodology so far and outlines the next steps towards wider adoption.
